Description

In 1839 the first steps were taken for the establishment of a Quaker boarding schol in the county of Oxfordshire. During 1839 and 1840 discussion took place on various committees appointed to consider the idea, various sites were inspected, and in 1841 the Manor House at Sibford Ferris was bought from joseph Harris for £1 ,200.

That is quite a lot of money. A laborer might have earned only £20–£30 a year at that time.
